Researching in Internet Marketing
In the previous chapter, we discussed competition and how it could be used as a good indication as to how profitable a market may be. In this chapter, we’re going to discuss different websites and free online tools you can use to conduct your research online.
Remember what the Internet is primarily used for. People are searching for information to their problems all the time all over the Internet. If they can’t find what they’re after, what’s the next best thing to do?
Ask!
There are numerous places that you can go to see what people are asking. Here are three of the most popular places to conduct your research:
Competition in Internet Marketing
In the previous lesson, we talked about Affiliate Marketing and showed how the definition of marketing still stood for this version of Internet Marketing. If you’re bright enough, you will have realized that something like this can’t stay hidden forever; there are literally tens of thousands of Internet Marketers out there, all competing with each other, trying to earn a living.
In a recursive sort of way, all the Internet Marketers out there also sort of form their own market; what do most people want out of Internet Marketing? They want to replace their full-time income and be able to work from home. They want something easy to do that won’t require too much effort but will give a good return.
Internet Marketing Basics: What is Affiliate Marketing
In the previous lesson, I gave you a more formal definition of marketing. I spoke of supply and demand and how without one component, you couldn’t make any money. I then presented you the problem where you might have identified a potentially profitable audience with a high demand, but you just didn’t have the knowledge to supply them with something they wanted.
That’s one of the beautiful things about marketing. Someone is bound to produce the supply for it, sooner or later. It’s easy for someone to sit around and mope all day about a problem that they have. It’s a lot harder to come up with a solution. Of course, if the problem is severe enough, people will start being resourceful and will create a solution.
How To Make Money With Internet Marketing
In the last lesson, we talked about search engines and just exactly how they provided Internet Marketers with priceless information about the problems they’re searching for solutions for. This is probably the message that you’ve been waiting for. In this article, we’re going to discuss just how you can capitalize upon this information and actually earn some money from it.
Before I do so, I’d like to present to you a more formal definition of marketing. The whole “problem-solving middleman” image is just to help you better understand where you fit in. If you’ve done any study in the area of sales and marketing before, then you will be aware that marketing has two important components. If one component is not present, you cannot make money.
Internet Marketing Basics: How Internet Marketing Works
From the last lesson, we learnt that marketing was essentially the act of solving problems. I spoke of the marketer as a “middleman”, someone who brought together people who had a problem with the solution that they were looking for. This is really as simple as it gets; for some reason, people tend to make it more complicated than it’s supposed to be.
Regardless of whether you conduct your marketing online or offline, it’s all the same. You’re still the problem-solving middleman. A marketer who works “offline” tends to work as part of a team. They might be charged with the task of trying to sell a product and finding the group of people who the product is best suited to.
